new song add here at the station. i'm actually a pretty big fan. i discovered meaghan smith a few months ago on the soundtrack for '500 days of summer'. she covered a pixie's song 'here comes your man'. she's pretty good. the office staff here think she is my doppleganger. its funny.
i'm enjoying my new spot on air, weeknights from 5 to 9. its a fun spot. it has opportunity for me. for the kind of thing that i want to do at this station, this is the EXACT spot that i want to be in. i realize it isn't the best spot in the radio biz, but it is perfect for me. i got doug to tune in online and listen for a while. i played him cat steven's 'peace train'. i love that song. we were talking about my job and what i want to do with it. it was fun. i like chatting with doug about music. i like that he appreciates getting music from me and finding out about it. it gets me excited about music. i can't stop once i get going... i also did an interview with my friend matt. his current music project is called little jungles. you can find him on facebook. i always like the music he writes. he has been trying to get himself out there more, with much urging from me. so he's playing a show this weekend at ubco, and i am doing my part and promoting him on air. we are going to do a couple more interview things on thursday and friday before his show. hopefully we can get a decent turn out? i wonder if it will really affect the attendance. i guess it depends on what age group tunes in during the evenings.
i love my job. i am feeling really really good about it tonight. makes me happy.
i took the first step in my next sewing project (this one i will actually finish within a year... agh). i am making a baby quilt for my friend darcy's baby. she was born on easter sunday, her name is cadence cameron soda filice. haha. she's really really cute. he is an apprentice tattoo artist. i picked out some flannel - one side is this cool purple, almost like tie dye? but better.... and the other side is this cute green flower pattern. my friend erin is going to draw on it, with chalk, an anchor and some roses. some classic tattoo flash art. and i got some really fancy shiny thread to quilt it in with. i am soooo excited about it. my goal is to have it done next week... which i think is a realistic goal. i can bring it in to the studio with me when i work and quilt on it.
sarah is living with tyler and i. it's nice. i don't have to do the dishes all the time... and the house stays nice and tidy. everyone has been working together to keep things nice and clean. the only thing that sucks is that i haven't been cooking due to my evening show. i leave right after tyler gets home. we haven't been spending oodles of time together. but luckily we both have saturdays off. and sunday afternoons, after i have a quick nap, we usually do something fun. this saturday we are going over to my mom's to start on the big job of beautifying her yard for the wedding next summer. we are going to tear down the flower bed in the middle of the yard, move the rabbit hutches, and possibly seed the lawn... we'll see how far we get on it. oh yah, and there was also talk of ripping the disgusting carpet off the porch and seeing what we have to work with underneath. i am now officially on the look out for some brick to do her back yard with... i think it will look really really cool once we lay some brick down out there and make it a nice little patio and some paths and stuff. her yard has so much potential to be awesome!!! i think doing the work will be really rewarding.
i'm working for my parents tomorrow and thursday. should make for some long days. haha. i just need to have enough time to shower and change before coming to work! it could get ugly... but i think i can make it through two days.
i am patiently awaiting the pictures from laura. so excited to see them!!!
