someday soon.

i discovered this band (one hundred dollars) from a mix cd my friend trystan gave me for my birthday. they're very folky country sounding. i love it. i had the album on my ipod already... and i am so thoroughly enjoying it right now. i don't know how or why... but it has a really twangy country sound... and i love it. its weird.

LOTS of things have happened in the last week. the biggest of which is probably breaking my nose! haha.

it was a beautiful day on friday, sunny and pretty warm, tyler and i had a WICKED morning. we took in our recycling, and visited our tattoo friends downtown. saw tyler's mom at the bank, and she gave us a gift card that tyler won at funtastic last year. so we went out for lunch with that, and it was just nice. we decided to go play catch in the park. we were throwing the ball around, and joking about various things. tyler has been funny and protective lately, and he made some remark about how i should have to wear protective gear over my face when playing any sort of sport. i laughed and was like, yah right. and then sure enough... fluke accident... the ball smoked me in the face. haha. first bleeding nose of my life, and let me tell you, it gushed. tyler was in a bit of a panic, but i was my usual emergency cool self and took off my hoodie and held it to my nose (it was black and i didn't really care that much if i got blood all over it). we got in the truck, and found some napkins that worked better to hold under my tap for a nose. i looked in the mirror, had blood all over my face. my nose wasn't horribly crooked, but we didn't know how to tell if it was broken or not. so i said, 'lets just go to my mom's house!' so off we went. my mom wasn't there, but grandma and grandpa were. grandpa looked at it, and said it didn't seem like it was broken, but my mom came home just then. haha. she spoke from experience, and said 'don't trust what HE says about a broken nose!'

tyler and i decided, at my mother's urging, to go to the clinic. when we got there, the woman at the desk told us to go to emergency (which was sort of where i thought we should go). so up the hospital we went. luckily we didn't have to wait TOO long (although tyler was fretting the entire time and feeling awful - i had to keep telling him it wasn't his fault, it was sweet really). when we got in there the doctor said it was cracked, but because my nose was still straight they didn't have to set it and told me to just ice it and keep my head elevated so i didn't have all the fluids rushing to my head and giving me monster headaches (which i have still been getting).

i got david to cover the hockey game for me, and tyler and i went home to lounge and watch movies or whatever. brodie and dan came over for a bit because tyler had plans to hang out with them while i went to work. they left pretty early though. to be honest, tyler and i got to spend a lot of quality time together because of breaking my nose. haha.

i had to mc the our kids have talent thing on saturday, and i was REALLY worried about that. i iced it and took a ton of advil to avoid bruising and swelling and got pretty lucky... it wasn't very dark and make up covered everything up (its getting increasingly darker now..). no one could tell i broke my nose. in fact, people were coming up to me saying 'i heard on the radio you broke your nose!' and i was like 'i did'. but no one could tell. it was reassuring. i had a tough time being the mc, i don't think that is something i am very good at... i can't talk continuously if i have nothing to say! and i'm not a super high energy exciting person. that isn't what i do at the radio station. and i talk for like 30 seconds at a time! and with radio you can say variations of the same thing over and over and that is what you are supposed to do... when you are the mc, and you have to fill time for sound checks and whatever, you are talking to exactly the same people you were talking to last time. so you can't repeat information you told them before because they all already know! it was intimidating and i think i blew it. i got told halfway through that i had to step up the energy because i was killing the crowd.

whatever. i hadn't ever done it before. i had a broken nose and a killer headache because of it. and i tried! what else could i do, really?

aside from that, i don't think i have much to report. we decided not to go to alberta to visit tyler's dad because of money issues. its tight right now because tyler is in school and isn't working. but we'll be peachy once he is back to work. and i am going to work tomorrow washing windows with dean, so that will ease things a little bit.

tyler told me last night while we were falling asleep that he wants to plan more wedding stuff. i asked him what he wanted to plan, because i think most of it we have to wait now to plan. he just stresses out about things when he doesn't know what is going to go down. he likes to be early, and have everything all figured out. haha. i'm sure i can figure out SOMETHING we can plan out.

  1. oh my goodness, I can't believe a ball in the face broke your nose! I mean, how hard did he throw it? I've been hit in the face several times by balls, and nothing. Sometimes I wished I had something to show for it. I guess it was the exact right angle and everything. Was it a base ball? Because that would hurt a lot. I hope you feel better! Did you take any pics?

  2. the ball in the face DOES sound serendipitous in that you got to spend so much time together! But that sucks about the mc-ing experience. Who knows how well you could do when you're feeling at your best though? I couldn't even consider doing anything like that, by the way - way way WAY too far out of my comfort zone. And there you are doing it with a broken nose.

  3. sarah, it came from above. he threw it high, and so i was faced up, which i think helped with the breaking, and he did throw it rather hard. usually he doesn't. i complain that he won't give me a good throw because i'm a girl... now he NEVER will again.
