we picked a date last night. talking to my mom, we realized we knew ABOUT when we wanted to get married, and so we just picked a day and made it official. its june 18th, 2011. SAVE IT! haha. i'm really excited. i feel like maybe if i start trying to prepare things NOW, at least some things may work out the way that i want them too. tyler and i made a rough draft of who we would invite. its really really hard to think of EVERYONE all at once. family was easy... 'who am i related to?'. although, between us with our families (parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) is like 120 - 130 people. that makes things huge right there! agh. haha. biiiig families.
tyler's sister is very excited. she has already started coming up with ideas for us. its pretty cute. especially considering until about 6 or 7 months ago i was still pretty scared of her. its nice to have her be so excited and open about it. she's just shy, but it can come off VERY intimidating. this makes her less shy or intimidating. tyler and i also (well i did... after talking to him) discovered that renee (his sister) is 10 days younger than sarah. exactly. our sisters are almost exactly the same age. i think its weird. i don't think anyone thinks its as weird as me.
originally we were thinking that we had TONS of time to figure things out, and weren't going to think about it just yet... but a year and a half isn't TOO far away to start planning some things. i think we're going to get married on the beach. have everything at paddle wheel hall (which has a little beach attached, and a deck over the water... its really pretty). my mom says her and bozenka will cater it (which makes my mouth water just thinking about it). i want the food to be fantastic. food at weddings is usually subpar because you have to have food that everyone will want, blah blah blah. i'm vegetarian. i want there to be options for me. and my best friend, who will be my maid of honour, is vegan. what always happens at large events is that there are like 2 dishes made specifically for you. its like "everyone massive tables of fantastic food is over here, your two boring typical vegetarian options are over there". its boring. and its always like vegetarian lasagna or something. don't get me wrong, i like lasagna. but at MY wedding, i want to have options. i don't want to feel like an outcast and like no one else is going to eat anything without meat. i want to have seasonal fresh dishes. and vegetarian and vegan dishes that are so good, people who eat meat are going to want to have some too. food is important to me. i like good food.
and last but not least... i have actually figured out what kind of dress i want (i'm sure you're all snoozing by now, if you managed to read this much... but i'm excited!!). check out www.stephaniejamescouture.com. i love the tea length dresses. i can't even pick one. haha. i really like the hillary, audry, and mrs. kennedy. of course... i can't afford to actually get one of those dresses. i'm hoping to find someone else who can make me something like it for a little cheaper.
anyway... i won't blabber on about this.

I can't believe you're engaged!! wow. congratulations!! I'm so happy for you two! And those dresses are fantastic - you'd look so perfect in a dress like that.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't bored. Weddings are exciting and getting to pick your own wedding stuff is fun, and I certainly don't mind hearing about it at all. I really love the dresses you picked out too. I think my personal fave is the Hilary one. I don't think those would be too hard to have made, they aren't overly elaborate or anything. Simple and retro and perfect for you. I hope I get to come!!
ReplyDeletei wasn't bored either! yay for your wedding! i also think those dresses are perfect for you. i like the hilary and the audrey the best.
ReplyDeleteblab all you want! i love weddings. Those dresses are beautiful, I think you'd look great in all of them but I like Hillary and Audrey the best too. but totally go with what you want!
ReplyDeleteas for the food, lucky you have two such good cooks to cater for you. I'm sure the food'll be great. If there's anything at all you need help with, let me know! what are your colours going to be? I might have some decorations you could use.
